Session #1: OSA/ SBD – The Role of Dentistry in the Puzzle

Drs. Duncan Brown and Michael Major will present the most current, “research based” approach to diagnosis, and therapeutic intervention of OSA, and SDB in both children and adults. This session will simplify the concept involved in diagnosis and treatment, and the role of expanded health care providers that are most likely to produce predictable results.

Session #2: How Photographs help in Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, and Liability

Dentists may or may not take photographs of their patients on a regular basis. Some dentists have dedicated photograph stations or areas for capturing the desired photographs. Orthodontists are a great example of this.
But many dentists do not take photos of all the potential problems a patient may have. Problems that can seriously torpedo treatment and when undiagnosed place the Dentist and their practice in peril.
Speakers:
Photographs not only help set the dentist apart from the competition; it shows the patient care of the health of their teeth as well as their entire health. Simple photograph protocol can raise the feeling of professionalism in the patient’s eyes. An impressed patient is more loyal, more apt to refer friends and family, and more likely to accept treatment recommendations. In addition to helping your standing and patient relationship, photographs can show the dentist and the patient potential health problems, many which will affect successful dental treatment options.
If you want to do aesthetic veneers for a patient, would it be valuable to know ahead of time the issues that may cause those veneers to fail? If you were to restore teeth with crowns or implants, would you not want to know the obstacles that patient is having with such treatment? And one final thing. Have any dentists had a patient that comes in without a body? Have you ever had Mrs. Jones send her head into you in a hat box? Silly right? But Mrs. Jones may have issues with her body that will not only affect her own health but dictate the problems you have in treating her.
A photographic protocol and an explanation of what you want to be looking for can provide many benefits to the dentist about to start their day. As well, a proper set of photographs can be built into a full and complete informed consent that is required by our profession with proof of issues that were present prior to any treatment. This can be a great resource in any case of liability.

Jodi Switalski has been successful from every angle of the law – as a felony prosecutor, as a sitting judge, and now as a winning family and criminal defense attorney and advocate.
In addition to her law degree, she has a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Human Development, Family Studies, Mediation and Public Policy.
Jodi understands the impact of trauma (PTSD, TBI, traumatic events) and substance abuse (illicit drug use, legal prescriptions resulting in addiction, and steroids) on the brain, decision making, and relationships. By revealing the pivotal moments in her clients’ lives and telling their complete stories of mental health, domestic violence, addiction, and other traumatic issues, Jodi has successfully influenced the criminal justice system, winning cases and decreasing consequences where any other defense attorney would have merely settled.

Session #6: Comprehensive Dentistry Using the T-Scan™ A Major Advance for Doctors and Patients
